Matt has recently completed writing enough material to produce a six song Ep. The material is, to say the least, different than the instrumental style of I’ll Know to Believe in Sparrows. It has overtones of early sixties girl groups like the Ronettes and Crystals mixed with the Velvet Underground and the Everly Brothers but with textures similar to My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Black Tambourine and Telescopes. Instrumental music, or post-rock if you really want to use labels, always creates a problem for the bands that produce it. By sheer virtue of the nature of the music they make, these bands will most likely be instantly compared to Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, et al. Immovable Objects would like to thank everyone for all the support over the last few months. During the beginning and middle of 2012, the shows and recording process brought many new people into the Immovable Objects camp. From new friends to new fans, the band has met many wonderful and supportive people. We are currently taking a deserved break from performing. Matt will be moving to Australia. Matt, Paul and Ted are headed back to the studio tomorrow to touch up a few guitar parts and to start adding percussion to the record. It’s really starting to come together! Next week we’ll be adding strings and bass to one of the remaining songs.
