MOVING FORWARD AND A REVIEW!

MOVING FORWARD AND A REVIEW!

Matt has recently completed writing enough material to produce a six song Ep. The material is, to say the least, different than the instrumental style of I’ll Know to Believe in Sparrows. It has overtones of early sixties girl groups like the Ronettes and Crystals mixed with the Velvet Underground and the Everly Brothers but with textures similar to My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Black Tambourine and Telescopes. There is no doubt that this will be an Ep with vocals, requiring female and male harmonies to be successful. Never fear, this is the process of creativity and I/O will certainly […]

New News!

New News!

If you have been following the on going exploits of Immovable Objects you are probably aware that Matt has been living in Australia for the last nine months. Paul and Brad along with Mario Quintero, who co-produced I’ll Know to Believe in Sparrows, have recorded a couple of EPs and are performing as Machines Learning. Tim and Ted are happily taking their photography businesses into new territories. While these are some small tidbits about the members of the band you are probably wondering what is going on with the band. Matt has begun writing and has a massed a small cache’ […]

Echoes and Dust review!

Echoes and Dust review!

Instrumental music, or post-rock if you really want to use labels, always creates a problem for the bands that produce it. By sheer virtue of the nature of the music they make, these bands will most likely be instantly compared to Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, et al. But as a fan of this genre, I’d gladly argue each band has its own identity. Granted, I was drawn to Immovable Objects because over the course of their latest album, I recognised hints of Explosions, Mogwai, This Will Destroy You, And So I Watch You From Afar, and even the Appleseed Cast. Matt in Australia

Matt in Australia

Hello I/O fans, Matt is currently living in Australia as a resident of the lovely country. He is working as a sound engineer and has met many interesting and talented musicians and performers. He has been especially impressed with the performers geared toward children in Perth such as the Adorable Florables. Matt’s suggestion for a good listen of Australian music is the band Tame Impala. Tame Impala is a psychedelic sixties revival act that sounds like a mix of the Beatles with some Black Sabbath, Birds, and  Zombies. If you are worried that Immovable Objects will never play live again, […]
